I'm getting a lot of pushback from my users who really dislike how Comments are done (and these are coming from ClickUp users). Specifically, the fact that EVERY comment made becomes an Open comment that is Unresolved is very annoying.
Use case: one of our apps is a list not of tasks but Chapters. On rare occasion we will need a task done for a Chapter, and this is perfectly handled by @ mentioning someone and assigning the comment to them. But the users were wanting the Conversation section to just be an ongoing place to put in notes when leaders talk to someone at a chapter or learn some new info about them. It's all just FYI that those "Following" the conversation care about. But no tasks.
What's also annoying is that ONLY the commenter or the one assigned can resolve it. Some other leader can't clean things up, or mark it as resolved when they see it's been handled. (All they can do is add an additional comment, which itself is unresolved ๐ฎ )
How is this best handled?
= Have everyone "Resolve" their comments immediately upon typing them? (And see an annoying "Resolved" banner at the top)
= Completely ignore the whole Resolve feature? (which guarantees we will miss seeing actual tasks)
= Switch to using a smart docs NOTES field for ongoing comments (which loses timestamps and would allow a user to delete or retroactively edit the entire contents of the note field)
= BEG as a minor feature request: Do NOT treat unassigned comments as unresolved?
Having true ASSIGNED and Unresolved comments show up in the "Open Comments" field is wonderful as that ensures we get stuff done. But when 95% of comments have no assignee and no task expected, it makes that field useless to show in the grid. Thoughts or recommendations please! ๐
