Approach to templating sub-items?

Hi folks,

I'm looking for some advice! I'm a freelancer, and I'd like to build a system for myself that could also scale if my business grew. I'm a long way from fully working out or documenting my process, but I've run into a roadblock.

I'd like to create a task that includes a checklist (simple enough - I know we can work around templating with automation) and a range of sub-tasks.

Using sub-items to create the sub-tasks is preferred so they can have their own status fields.

I originally tried creating a library of sub-task items, then adding them in the parent task as linked records. I thought this would be the perfect solution until I realised that they can't be "shared" across tasks since the status fields need to be unique to the parent. I thought the best workaround would then be to duplicate these sub-tasks in every time so they could be unique records, but quickly realised that wasn't going to work long term as it's messy and too time consuming. I'd sooner move back to ClickUp (who actually have a really neat template center solution for this) than try and do that!

Is anyone familiar with a way to achieve this? A simpler solution I used previously was to create "template" tasks that had everything I needed, then duplicate them per client.

Thanks!
