Is there a way to add a section in the grid view? Also, can checklists/subtasks expand in the grid view? A big hangup for me is not being able to organize/view with sections and not being able to click a check box from the grid view. I'm used to Todoist and Asana's clean/straightforward views with these options.

Well, of course, SmartSuite isn't Asana or Todoist. Each has its plusses and minuses, and a tool that's focused on a very narrow set of problems (like the wonderful Todoist) can sometimes solve those particular problems better than a more general-purpose tool like SmartSuite. But there's no question that SmartSuite can do 100 things Todoist can't (including, I might add, in managing to-do lists).

Anyway, in grid views you can't add \"sections\" if by section you mean \"another grid\" above or below the one grid you get. You COULD do something like this in a Dashboard, though. And even in a normal one-grid grid view, you can use grouping to achieve something vaguely similar to \"sections\".

And if you use multiple groups, you can achieve a more complex display of your records based on cascading dependencies. For example, say you have a school database that tracks teachers, classes and students. You could, in your grid, group records in that order: first teachers, then classes, then students. Configure the grouping to \"collapse all by default\". Now, initially you're looking at the top group only, that is, teachers, You scroll down to Ms Johnson, expand her group and now you see her classes. Then you click on a class and see the students in that class.

[NOTE: I picked that example partly because it does point out a limitation of sections. The grid that I just described would presumably be created for the STUDENTS app. Well, in that app, you will presumably have just one record per student. So if Susie Katzenbach happens to be in more than one of Ms Johnson's classes, well, she's not going to be listed twice. If that's a fatal problem (and it might be) you might build this grid in either the TEACHERS or CLASSES app, click on a class record (to expand it) and see the list of linked students there.]

SmartSuite's a terrific data management tool, and it does have some very well thought out user-interface features. However, it's not a free form interface builder. Having worked with free-form interface builders myself for a very long time --- tools where I could do anything I could think of -- I find SmartSuite's \"limitations\" not to be limiting but rather liberating. But you do have to learn how to work with 'em.
