Pull data from multiple solutions/apps to create reports

I'm analyzing the pros and cons of how to structure our solutions and apps. For example, we have a Project solution, and within that project solution, we have two types of projects, B2B & freelance. I want to be able to compare the two types of projects to see which is bringing in the most revenue. So the obvious choice is to keep them in the same app, and create a chart or dashboard view. But a lot of the data entry is different between the two.

Is there some way to be able to sync data from multiple solutions/apps to create reports? The way I can think of is through automations, but maybe that's getting too complicated and it'd be better to deal with working through organizing the data entry? Are there any other ways to go about this?
