Record Title field - now that there is email

Resolved

I am looking at the Sales CRM template in which the Contact app uses the contact's first and last name as the Record Title. I would like to set up email templates (within the new email capability - very cool!) that would enable me to start the email with "Hi [First Name]"

Is there a way to manipulate the Record Title field such that a template pulls the First Name, or, alternatively, replace the current Record Title with the Full Name field and again have the template pull just the First Name from the Full Name field?

Also, with the First and Last Name as part of the same field. that seems to limit the ability to easily export a customer contact list for use in Mailchimp, etc. when sending an email blast to our customers. It would be nice to personalize a batch of emails using the first name without having to re-input it as a separate field.

I'm new to SmartSuite so I may be missing an obvious solution. I wanted to ask before inputting a bunch of records and finding out the hard way. Please let me know how to handle this.

Thanks,

Bob

Bob Collier welcome to the community!

You can have the Title field display the first name only, in 2 ways

1) Add a new frield of type formula -> advanced -> paste [Full Name].[First Name]
change title type to auto-generated, and point to the new formula field.
(you can hide the firstName field, let it do its job behind the scenes :)

2) Avoid using the full name field, and use two separate text fields. One for the first name, and one for last name.
