Greetings SS friends,
I'm new SS and currently exploring Zapier vs. Make through their free options. I'm wondering if a particular way of using either one of these is possible. Here's the use case:
I have a SS solution that is a view only solution that is a documentation repository which is my source of truth. I'm looking to port this documentation content into a client solution where I can somehow allow the client to generate a PDF with their branding. The view of the source of truth documents still still be read only and be a linked record from its solution. The reason? I need to share this information with multiple clients but need one place to update it where all the changes just filter down to the clients' solutions.
I could get Zapier to come close to running an automation with the folloing logic: when a record is updated (and I use the Smart doc field of the record) then update the record in the client portal (also using the Smart doc field). The automation I created does this. BUT here are the two issues:
the content is ported over to the target, but it doesn't hold the formatting only the plan text is transferred to the target destination.
This way is fine for one or two clients. But as I scale my business, manually adding each client to this automation will be cumbersome. Is there a way around that?
I could not get anything in Make to work. I was hopeful because the user reports on Make is that it is easier than Zapier to use. However, this isn't my experience so far.
Anyway advise or tips are most welcome. I new to the world of automations.
Eve
